USModernist, America’s largest open resource for Modernist architecture, invites architecture enthusiasts to visit new and renovated Modernist homes around Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina, on September 14. For the Modapalooza NC event, the educational nonprofit carefully selected outstanding examples of modern homes — all eight designed by women.
“We planned to offer a dynamic tour and found that the houses we wanted were all by women,” says George Smart, Hon. AIA, founder of USModernist. “Tour-goers will experience great Modern design interpreted for today.”
From 8 a.m. to 5 p.m, Modapalooza NC will chauffeur Modernist fans around Raleigh, Durham and Hillsborough on luxury tour buses, stopping at the eight homes, featured below, for exclusive tours. The seven architects will meet attendees at each house and share their visions for the projects.
Proceeds from the event benefit NCModernist, a North Carolina nonprofit educational archive for the documentation, preservation and promotion of Modernist houses. The $179 tickets include refreshments, lunch, and a tote bag.
