Scottsdale, AZ-based Bonnie J. Lewis, Allied ASID, Assoc. IIDA, CAPS, of 55+ TLC Interior Design, LLC modified this 280-sq.-ft. master bathroom for a couple who wanted a bright, contemporary space that could accommodate them as they age. The clients requested a larger shower, more light and
larger, more accessible space for each water closet.
Lewis removed the wall dividing the foyer and toilet on both sides, and enlarged the spaces. She put in hands-free Toto Washlet hygiene systems and closed off the areas with 36″-wide doors with lever handles. A centered whirlpool tub and glass partition were removed, and that area now opens up to a 36″-wide barrier-free shower. Two Jaclo Rain Machines were placed in the shower, along with Arizona Tile’s Fibra Linen porcelain tile.
Slip-resistant porcelain Arizona Tile flooring in Africa White was installed in the rest of the bath. Bright pops of color, such as Modono Pedaro glass tile wall accents, are also incorporated into the space to give the neutral room a little added flair.
Kohler Conical Bell vessel sinks with California Faucets Diva faucets were set on top of Silestone by Cosentino countertops in Night Mist. All blended well with the original vanities, which were raised to make them more accessible. Multiple Hubbardton Forge Axis pendant lights hang over each vanity, along with Robern C Series mirrored cabinets.
