Newly Restored Modernist House by Richard Rogers Opens to Harvard GSD Fellows

Parkside, Richard Roger’s prototype house, has been extensively renovated by Gumuchdjian Architects in the spirit of the original, and adapted to house two visiting Harvard Graduate School of Design fellows in London. Rogers designed and built the house for his parents in 1968 , while exploring ideas about mass production and modular housing. The appealing but lightly built dwelling was a conundrum to update, causing the architects to parse philosophies of purist preservation/restoration versus sensitive renovation.
